Veterans and Democrats—Stand Firm Against Trump’s Budget

President Trump’s proposed budget sacrifices working families, veterans’ health, and social services in the name of partisan politics and tax breaks for the ultra-rich. It’s time we remind our Democratic representatives that we expect them to stand united and reject this harmful agenda.

Every letter and call matters right now. Your representatives need to hear that there is no room for compromise when millions of Americans could lose essential protections. Veterans especially know what solidarity looks like, and Congress needs that reminder today.

Step 1: Find Your Representatives

You can identify and contact your members of Congress quickly:

  • U.S. Senators: Visit www.senate.gov → click “Find Your Senators” and select your state.
  • U.S. Representatives: Visit www.house.gov → click “Find Your Representative” and enter your ZIP code.

Each site lists email forms and contact details. Copy the template letter below, paste it into their contact form, and make edits if you like.

Subject: Hold Firm Against Trump’s Budget

Dear [Senator/Representative] [Last Name],

As a voter and a veteran, I urge you to hold firm and oppose President Trump’s proposed budget. This plan endangers the programs that millions of Americans—especially working families, veterans, and seniors—depend on.

We should not pit national strength against social responsibility. Veterans understand the meaning of service and sacrifice, and slashing health care, education, and community programs betrays those same values.

Please stand strong with your Democratic colleagues. Do not cave to threats or political gamesmanship. Protect the people, protect our future, and show that congressional Democrats have the backbone to defend America’s real priorities.

Thank you for your leadership and courage,

Step 2: Send and Share

  • Send your letter to both Senators and your House member.
  • Share this post with other veterans and activists.
  • Follow up by calling their offices—mention you wrote and expect a response.

We served this country once in uniform; now we defend it through civic pressure and solidarity. Don’t let Trump’s budget undo what we fought for.
