The reason the current administration, and even some Democrats, want us focused on "losing" our social security, and being outraged over that, is because NONE of them want us knowing about, or pointing out, the real social security tax scam that has been going on for years!!
If you're not sure how our social security works, it goes like this, it's 12.4% annually (we pay 6.2% of our wages, and our employer matches that and pays 6.2% of our wages). Except, there is a cap, at $176,100 a year salary, meaning the most social security tax an individual or company pays is $10,918. Additionally, in the U.S., we have 801 billionaires, and 20 million millionaires!! (Still only about about 12% of our working age citizens)
So if you make $200k, or $1 million, or $500 million or a couple billion a year, you still only pay about $11k in social security taxes, which would be like one of us “working class stiffs” paying about $10 bucks, if that. Over 85% of Americans will never earn $200k per year or more in their lifetime. Furthermore, if each of those billionaires only made $1 billion a year and the millionaires only made $1 million a year, and they paid their fair share of 6.2% (not counting what companies would pay), that would be an extra $4.6 trillion, WITH A "T", a year in tax revenue!!
That is over double what we paid in taxes for a 20 year war in Afghanistan, which the only thing that was gained there was 2,459 dead U.S. service men and women, another 20,769 injured (a large number with lifelong PTSD), and low estimates of well over 70k dead Afghani citizens, almost 1/3rd of them being women and children. Oh, we might have misspoke, that was a little misleading, the keepers of the MIC (military industrial complex), the arms contractors, weapons manufacturers, lobbyists and politicians did gain something from that 20 year war, they made enough money to put their great great grandchildren through Harvard Law School and keep the tradition going!!!
Call your Congressperson, call your Representatives, DEMAND we get rid of the social security cap! If they're truly concerned about the budget and cutting cost from government spending, what better way for D.O.G.E to make the government more efficient then by making the wealthy, elite oligarchs simply pay their FAIR SHARE like everyone else, and add an easy $4.6 trillion to our budget each year?
